What You Need
You need a Pipeline account with access to the records you want to use, and a ChatGPT account that can use plugins. Plugin availability can vary by plan, region and workspace settings.
Install the Plugin
- Open the Pipeline Job Management plugin, or open Plugins in ChatGPT and search for Pipeline Job Management
- Select Install plugin, and sign in to ChatGPT if you are asked to
- Complete the Pipeline sign-in and consent screen when prompted
- Check the requested permissions before you approve them
Using a Managed Workspace
If you use ChatGPT Business, Enterprise or Edu, plugins may be controlled by your workspace administrator. If you cannot install the plugin, ask your administrator whether plugins are enabled and whether you have access to Pipeline Job Management, or switch to your personal workspace if appropriate.
Use Pipeline in ChatGPT
Open a new chat and select Pipeline Job Management from the tools menu. Start with a read-only request to confirm the connection is working, such as Show today’s Pipeline schedule and outstanding work. You can then ask for something more specific, such as Find the latest job for Acme Plumbing and show its status.
Security and Permissions
Each person signs in to their own Pipeline account, and Pipeline applies that user’s permissions. ChatGPT asks for confirmation before it sends a customer-facing message or approves or rejects a payment claim. Review any action before confirming it. Disconnect the plugin from ChatGPT or revoke its access in Pipeline when it is no longer required.
Add Pipeline Manually
Most people should install the published plugin. If your organisation needs a custom connection instead, eligible accounts can add one using Developer mode:
- In ChatGPT, open Settings > Plugins
- Open Advanced settings and enable Developer mode
- Choose Create and enter the Pipeline MCP server URL: https://mcp.pipelineapp.co.uk/mcp
- Use the OAuth authentication detected by ChatGPT, scan the tools and create the plugin
- Complete the Pipeline sign-in and consent screen when prompted
Troubleshooting
- If you cannot install the plugin, check whether plugins are available on your ChatGPT plan and in your region, or ask your workspace administrator
- If you are adding Pipeline manually, confirm that the full server URL, including /mcp, was entered
- If OAuth fails, start the connection again and complete the Pipeline sign-in in the same browser session
- If a tool cannot see a record, check your Pipeline role has the necessary permission
